Jennifer Hughes was born in Eastern Los Angeles County sometime during the period when the Reading Rainbow and the Electric Company were popular television shows. While other children wanted to be princesses and firefighters, Jen was the oddball that wanted to be an archivist or historian. At the age of 20, she joined the United States Air Force where she remained enlisted for six years until she was honorably discharged. She graduated from Northwest Florida State College in 2010 with a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. Initially, her goal was to teach history at the middle or high school level, but life had other plans! In 2011, she moved from Florida to Spokane and became a travel agent specializing in Disney destinations, which allowed her to work from home. In 2016, she was finally able to begin fulfilling her childhood dream by entering the History graduate program at Eastern Washington University. She was lucky enough to score an internship at the Washington State Archives which lasted for one year. She graduated in June 2018 with a Master’s in History, focusing on Public History and is currently works with public records at Spokane County.
