Frontier Spokane Hotels

Spokane’s frontier days were a time when the town was not developed and the options for travelers and transient workers were extremely limited.  One either camped using items they brought themselves or, if they happened to arrive after 1876, they stayed at the Western House.  After the arrival of more townspeople, the California House offered more gracious accommodations.  The city operated with a “help your neighbor” mentality, which was necessary during these rough times.
